Students

School Year
An After School and School Holiday Program is offered by the Department.  The children enjoy arts and crafts, playground time, inside games, and homework help in a supervised environment.
Fall
Fall is soccer season, and the Recreation Center has several teams.  Soccer is not only a fun sport but it promotes cardio-vascular fitness and teamwork.
Winter
Everyone knows that Winter means basketball.  The teams from the Recreation Center use the new Orange Beach Elementary School gymnasium for the ever growing basketball programs.
Spring

The Orange Beach Sports Association provides the children of Orange Beach with softball, t-ball, and baseball programs.  These very popular sports encourage kids to develop hand - eye coordination, stamina, and teamwork skills.

Camp Gator Group

Summer

School is finally out and the Recreation Center offers a Summer Day Camp (called "Camp Gator") for grades K-6 with a counselor in training program for 7th and 8th grades.

Activities include arts and crafts, inside and outside play, swim lessons and free swim, and field trips.

Summer is also the time to take a cooling dip in the City pool.  It is open to the public from Memorial Day until Labor Day, 12:00 to 6:00PM daily.  Swim lessons and water aerobics are offered in the mornings.

Future Plans

As the City grows, so does the need to provide for the every increasing number of children that contribute to that growth.

Building an Expanded Recreation Center
Over the next year the plans are to build an expanded Recreation Center.  We are also developing new programs to include football, dance and gymnastics, and other exciting activities.
