Responsibilities

The Building Department is responsible for reviewing plans to assure compliance with the Standard Building Codes and pertinent ordinances regulating development.  It is also responsible for making zoning determinations.

Permits

Permit to Develop in a Flood Hazard Area
This application is necessary if the area the proposed structure is situated in is in a flood zone.  Staff will determine what zone your propety is in.
Sign Permits
Sign permits are required before a sign is erected.  Call the building department for more information on permit types and fees.
Building Permits
Building permits are necessary not only for new structures, but also for additions and/or alterations to existing structures.
Moving Permits
Moving permits are required to move any structure within the city limits of Orange Beach.
ADEM Permits
ADEM permits are required for any structure built on Gulf-front property which is intersected by the Construction Control Line(CCL).  This permit must be obtained prior to making application for a building permit.
